Lore-master Skills with Missing Values

The following skill values (marked with an X) vary per player level and are incompletely documented on this wiki. They should be looked up in-game and added to their respective value tables. In the list below, the skills are sorted by level, so you can can see in one glance which skills to check for your character and which not. Remember that some traits and legacies affect the values you're gathering. You can look up which these are under the "Traits" and "Interactions" sections of the skill page. The values that need to be added to the tables are the unaltered base values, so make sure to unspec traits and unequip LI's that affect the skills you are working on.

Skill Morale cost Power cost Power per second Negate/reflect Rating Level acquired
Sign of Power: Command X X 1
Inner Flame X X 4
Test of Will X X 6
Gust of Wind X 8
Cracked Earth X X 14
Light of the Rising Dawn X X 18
Power of Knowledge X 16
Wisdom of the Council X 20
Ents go to War X X 41
Air-lore / Continual Air-lore X 44/64
Lightning Storm X X 50

Improved Sign of Power: Command X X 66

The following skills share their values:

  • All seven skills that cost morale have the same values for morale cost.
  • Wisdom of the Council damage reflected and (Continual) Air-lore negated.

Note: Sign of Power: Command and Sign of the Wild: Protection (now obsolete) used to share their parry rating.

Gathering Information

Most information can be found by mousing over skill tooltips, but the following skills might need some extra explanation:

  • Inner Flame: The information asked is the power cost per second. This can be found by simply mousing over the tooltip.
  • Power of Knowledge: The information asked is the power drained per second. To find this out, use the skill on a creature while you are not on full power and read back in the combat log how much it restored per pulse. Note: if you are full of power OR if the creature has no power left, the text "absorbed" will float above your character. This will show up as a lesser or no amount of power drained in the combat log. Don't take these sort of values into account. Make sure not to have the Power and Wisdom trait equipped while testing.
  • Wisdom of the Council: The information asked is how much damage gets reflected (one value). This can be found by simply mousing over the tooltip. Both Wisdom of the Council and Wisdom of the Council (Effect) should be updated with the found value.
  • Air-lore/Continual Air-lore: The information asked is how much damage gets negated and reflected (two different values). This can be found by simply mousing over the tooltip.

Gathering Information

Before you start collecting information you should understand the basics of how skill tooltips (and those of items, for that matter) work:

Skill tooltips show the skill as it would work for *you*.

This also counts for pet skills. The game takes the information of the player and then uses a formula to calculate the damage, power cost, defence etc. the skill would do if it was *you* who'd use the skill, not your pet. This matters because your pet may not be the same level as you.

How can we then ever know the value for the pet? It so happens that for pet skills the only information the game inserts in the formula is the level of the player, since pets don't have stats. In other words, if you mouse over a pet skill, the value is the same for you as it would be for your pet if it would be your level.

Value tables on pet skill pages are sorted by level of the pet. While entering information, just ignore this fact and simply enter the value at the spot of the same level as you are, and all is fine. Yes, you are entering information from "the future", but the information is correct!

N.B. Effect tooltips don't work like this. They show the actual effect as applied by your pet, which is thus influenced by the level of your pet, and not by your own level. Effect tooltips can be a handy tool to recover extra values that would otherwise remain hidden. You can even slot the Hardy Companion trait to increase the level of your pet and uncover even more values (you will have to take the +2% Outgoing Damage this trait causes into account, though, so this makes it a bit more complicated and mostly usable for power costs). Only a few pet skills generate effects that have numbers that need written down, though.

Most information can be found by mousing over skill tooltips, but the following skills might need some extra explanation:

  • Distraction: Somehow, mousing over the skill tooltip grants different damage values than the effect. This thus is only usable for gathering power cost information (this counts for your level). Using the skill and mousing over the effect tooltip under the Raven's target's vitals will grant the correct values of the light damage every 4 seconds of the pet's level. You then have gathered values for one level (namely that of the pet). You can find out the power cost of the pet's level by carefully looking how much power it uses under the vitals, but this is not necessary if values already exist on the wiki.
Update: Distraction has been fixed! The raven now deals the same amount of damage over time as the tooltip says.--Ravanel (talk) 11:24, 29 April 2016 (UTC)
  • Angry Bees: Somehow, mousing over the skill tooltip grants different damage values than the effect. This thus is only usable for gathering power cost information (this counts for your level). Using the skill and mousing over the effect tooltip under the Bog-guardian's target's vitals will grant the damage over time value of the pet's level. You then have gathered values for one level (excluding the power cost, of which you only know the value of your own level).
Update: New gathering data suggests that the pet skill tooltips no longer use the formula for the player, but actually for the pets themselves. Tooltip of a player level+1 bog-lurker shows the same amount of damage as the effect on an enemy. --Ravanel (talk) 11:38, 29 April 2016 (UTC)
  • Nobility: This is an effect and not a skill, so you have to enter the values at the level your pet is. You can use Hardy Companion to increase the level of the pet to be your own and gather two values at a time.
