The Way of Smiths is a location that can be reached from both the Silvertine Lodes and the Redhorn Lodes after you have completed the Epic quest Bósi's Recommendation.

Description

The Way of Smiths is a tunnel that connects the Silvertine Lodes and the Redhorn Lodes. It also contains a room with forges, called The Heart of Fire.

Reachability

From the The Twenty-first Hall the 2 fastest known routes (between 47 seconds and 2 minutes, on a +78% mount) are:

• If the quest "To the Orc-Watch" is available to you (i.e. you satisfied the prerequisites in the quest chain, but did not advance the quest), then
  • Port to the Orc-watch via the goat. The port egress will place you next to Thálfi (Redhorn Lodes) at ^{[11.1S, 106.9W]}:
  • Enter the door in the wall, west between Thálfi and the Task Bulletin Board. This will lead you to the lower level near Róarr and Ingifast.
  • Head east and south between the guards and down the sets of stairs to ^{[11.3S, 106.0W]}
  • Head north and east and you will reach the entrance of The Way of Smiths ^{[10.4S, 105.4W]}

• An alternate, but significantly slower route is:
  • Swift Travel to Dolven-view
  • Stable taxi to Deep Descent, interrupt when the mount turns from the main North-South passageway.
  • Follow the path down to Menem-berej, and continue down the spiral ramps to the Ways of Smiths entrance.
  • The optimal path from the entrance to the Menem-berej cavern, just south of Deep Descent, southwards to the spiral ramps, involves a series of non-fatal falls, and while an item like Fall Injury Immunity is not strictly necessary, it does significantly reduce the overall travel time. The Burglar skill Safe Fall provides a lesser benefit, due to its limited duration.

• Both routes run the risk of acquiring aggro from hostile foes en route, for characters within the Moria level range, but between the 2, the Silvertine Lodes route may be safer for lower-level characters, since the creatures there are near level 52, whereas for Redhorn Lodes, they are closer to 56.

• The Forgotten Treasury - In the middle of the Silvertine Lodes, there are spiral ramps going down towards the Forgotten Treasury. Before that you'll pass by a door to the Way of Smiths. This is about halfway down.
