The Huntsman
- This page is about the Elder Spirit of Enedwaith and Dunland. For the Hunter trait tree, see Huntsman.
Description
The Huntsman, also known as the Wild Huntsman or the Rhi Helvarch (Dunlendish for Hunter King), is an Elder Spirit revered by the Dunlendings. His court is comprised of the animal spirits that are the totems of the different clans of Dunland. His very presence is reputed to be the cause for the uncanny properties of the beasts in western Enedwaith, and sigils bearing his emblem have been used to craft items of great power.
Mighty as he is, he himself is a vassal of his lord in the West.
Background
The Huntsman is meant to be a Maia of Oromë, one of the Valar. Some of the lore surrounding these beings is included in the license of The Lord of the Rings Online, but information from sources such as The Silmarillion is not and cannot be referenced directly.
The Huntsman bears a resemblance to depictions of the Celtic god Cernunnos, such as that of the Gundestrup Cauldron.
