Any objections if I change the item category to "Items"? I felt that a consistent naming convention for categories was needed and specified the convention used by wikipedia, in my own words, in the Help:Contents page. Therefore, the category defined by this template, and hopefully few others, need to change to be consistent with that.

I just went off the pagename of Item.. i guess they are all singular in form so if categories should be of plural form, it's fine to change it.

done. I'll try to track down fallout from any issues. --Hellis 13:53, 20 March 2007 (PDT)

I'm trying to understand why most item articles have "Item:" in the name. There doesn't appear to be an "Item" namespace so I can't think of a reason, since categories are applied to items anyway. Help?

My understanding of wiki namespaces is that they allow separation of different types of content (e.g. Talk:, Portal:) but game items seem like they should be in the same namespace as everything else. The "Item:" prefix is just confusing if it isn't for namespace purposes. Not that moving all those pages would be fun... --Hellis 19:42, 20 March 2007 (PDT)

The intent for the Item and Quest namespaces is to allow someone to focuses searches between the three common namespaces. There's also hope to make the item page search results appear as a table with key elements. And i think, hopefully very soon, all items in the Item pagename will have tooltip/popup style features. (hint: look at your search preferences, the default for anonms and new users are main, item, quest and portal. --Hinney 19:52, 20 March 2007 (PDT)

The fields slot and item-types conflict for the case of slot=Tool and item-type=Tools (using plural form) --Lotroadmin 22:43, 20 March 2007 (PDT)

I need to catch some Zzzzz but there is a ....old page.... page that needs to be updated when we change the template --Hinney 02:16, 21 March 2007 (PDT)

Yeah, I've noticed that the current auto-category logic is problematic for plural categories. The "item-type" field should probably not be made plural for example, because the type is singular. Slot is easier to work around by just adding " Items" to the slot name. I've reworked the template to support several optional category parameters and removed the item-type from the categories. Too much work for contributors? I just wasn't a fan of creating categories for the item name or some other parameters because they don't help you find a particular page or set of pages. My goal with categories is to make it easy to find sets of things (e.g., all woodworker recipes, all shoulder pad armours) by browsing and not just using search.

I updated the instructions in the template. I'll look at changing the ... old page... tomorrow. --Hellis 02:36, 21 March 2007 (PDT)

Which field should be filled to show that an item is unique? --Xander 14:57, 3 April 2007 (PDT)
I think Worth shouldn't be always shown, there are enough items that dont have it... and i haven't noticed 'til now, but do items sell at the same price that you buy them? --Xander 14:57, 3 April 2007 (PDT)
Just like i feared there's a difference between the price of an item that you pay to Vendor and the one that Vendor pays you when you sell an item...
So we may need two fields, one for the price that PC pays to get an Item and another for the price that Vendor pays for the items that PC sells...
Hope it wasn't too confusing... --Xander 16:25, 6 April 2007 (PDT)
The tooltip only contains the "worth" but there's nothing preventing anyone from adding the cost of the item below it.. If you prefer i can make it a field and have it display "Vendor Price: " At the top or bottom --Hinney 00:28, 7 April 2007 (PDT)
The worth field now only shows up when worth-g, -s or -c is used. I did make use of your Worth template. Also Unique field has been added (a while ago actually).
Just to clearify worth.. it actually shows up in the tool tip, we can easily add vendor price within the tool tip or at the top or bottom of it. --Hinney 01:08, 9 April 2007 (PDT)
Yeah i think "vendor price" field could be useful, just make it an optional field =) --Xander 04:53, 9 April 2007 (PDT)
