why aren't we using official ingame acronyms? --Xander 09:58, 21 March 2007 (PDT)

Like what? Isn't everything on that page a term used ingame? Only strange thing is that accomplishments are listed on the Deeds page. --Hinney 10:30, 21 March 2007 (PDT)

  • like BUR, CPT, CHN, GRD, HNT, LRM and MNS - these are acronyms you find in social screens ingame... --Xander 10:40, 21 March 2007 (PDT)

All uppercase looks kinda bad?

Classes BUR CPT CHN GRD HNT LRM MNS
Skills BUR CPT CHN GRD HNT LRM MNS
Traits BUR CPT CHN GRD HNT LRM MNS
Accomplishments BUR CPT CHN GRD HNT LRM MNS

Should i just leave it or use lowercase? Does it really matter that that table matches the chat acronyms? A lot of times different realms will use slightly different acronyms. --Hinney 10:53, 21 March 2007 (PDT)

As a navigation box, I prefer the accomplishments infobox because of it's vertical layout. I find this one a bit too wide. Perhaps we could try changing to that style? Or if not at least invert the information in this one? --Hellis 11:34, 21 March 2007 (PDT)

Why was the class-icons removed from this infobox? It looked a lot better with them imo :) --Tjikke 01:28, 28 March 2007 (PDT)

MP

class infobox appears on skill pages for monsters, something needs to be changed there =) --Xander 11:59, 3 April 2007 (PDT)

Is it needed to make a seperate infobox for monsters only? --Blakborn 23:44, 3 April 2007 (PDT)

Purpose of Class-infobox?

I've seen this on several pages where, because it did not convey any information that I could perceive, I've been ignoring it. But now that I'm doing a bit of editing, I feel I should determine its use. I have only seen this included on class (example: Warden) or skill (Guide to Sûri-kylä) entries. In the first instance it tells us that Wardens are Wardens, and secondly that a Hunter skill is a Hunter skill. In both cases it does not convey any new/additional information to the reader. So I am wondering why this infobox exists? Is there some aspect to this template and it's use that I am missing? Or is this a legacy from some previous wiki standard that has been superseded? DoIHaveTo 06:13, 23 May 2011 (EDT)

It still appears on the page for Guide to Sûri-kylä because that page is using an old template. I'm not 100% sure about it, but I think the point is to provide quick links to related pages. Eg if you're looking at the Warden page, you might want to look at Warden Skills, or traits, or maybe another class page. Amphoras 07:31, 23 May 2011 (EDT)
I'm working on updating the old skill templates that Amphoras mentioned, but otherwise this template serves more as a navigation box than an infobox, as he described. My thinking was to replace this eventually with something more similar to the other navboxes that you can see on other pages. While this one is very pretty, it's not, perhaps, as functional or easy to work into a page design as we might like. Any ideas? Sethladan 17:22, 23 May 2011 (EDT)
I'm not certain that the class-infobox serves any purpose today. Pros: 1) It's eye candy. Cons: 1) Classes already include sub-articles, no need to see another entry. 2) All other table info is unrelated to the class shown. 3) Its function can easily be replaced by links directly within the article or the footer, assuming they're not already present. 4) The intent and usage is unclear. Personally I would rather see something more like User:DoIHaveTo/Sandbox DoIHaveTo 04:12, 24 May 2011 (EDT)
That looks quite good. How would it look if it was a wiki based table with the images added in rather than the whole thing being an image? Just thinking it would be easier if any of the information in the tables needs changed in the future, as there might not always be someone around who could make a new image to upload. Amphoras 09:25, 24 May 2011 (EDT)
While the mock-up is an image, the implementation imagined for the wiki would contain approx 3 images - all graphic elements, no text at all. The rest is just a question of how much the wiki's table implementation can handle. -- DoIHaveTo 07:50, 25 May 2011 (EDT)
Added a thumbnail image showing table cells to my Sandbox. -- DoIHaveTo 19:51, 25 May 2011 (EDT)

Traceries

While i can see that it might be useful to have traceries on this infobox, i am not completely convinced they belong there. I have not seen a discussion about the change so i would like to lay some points that i thing are worth considering. I have viewed the infobox as a general purpose infobox with information about a class, basically my point is that compared to the other stuff there, the traceries are part of the legendary system that starts with level ~50. Same as the old legendary system, which was not part of the template, probably because it was also possible to ignore it completely, while you would be missing too much stats by ignoring this new one. There are other class specific things missing on the infobox like; effects, quests, items - why are these not there? --Drono (talk) 07:37, 25 August 2022 (UTC)

In short, when it was asked about in general chat, Galbus asked me and I said I saw no problem with it that it seemed helpful to me. That's my bad I didnt think there was anything wrong with it so didn't suggest further discussion.
As for why are the others not there? No one asked for or suggested they be added would be my guess. Of the ones you mentioned Quests like class specific sure I could see. I'm curious what class specific items and effects would you recommend? I'm not sure how many would be easy to add or format into condensed pages like the traceries are. I know we have I think multiple categories probably on them so could take a bit of work. But could be viable I suppose if folks found them helpful. My 2 cents. Eldalleth (talk) 09:29, 25 August 2022 (UTC)
Well, if we are already talking about traceries, also the legendary weapons are class specific. Most classes have other specific slotable items; bags/tomes/chisels/carvings as well as consumable items; marbles/oils/strings/pet food. There are also class specific armor sets. Might be better to compile a <Class Items> pages with all of these to put on this infobox.
Here are Class Effects and Class Quests. --Drono (talk) 10:12, 25 August 2022 (UTC)
