Talk:Udúnion

I've never seen Udunion use the Burn ability until he was below 50% health. This frees up the Horn person to do melee DPS for the first half of the fight. Also since the ninja bug fix in Book 11 that prevents him from doing his special abilities twice in a row (notably Shadow Take You), you only need one Staff user. --Foam Head 00:07, 19 March 2008 (PDT)

I would like to know from someone who has run this instance and defeated Udunion after the latest patch whether the bug mentioned in the article still occurs. That way we can fix the article up appropriately. --Fedaykin 21:41, 31 October 2007 (PDT)

we have not yet. We stick to Forwengwath atm. But i think its safe to assume that a lot of Boss encounters have been recoded after the last patch. Helchgam and Gurthul both got a stealth "fix" --Anarchie 03:25, 1 November 2007 (PDT)

I have fought him 3 times since the Book 11 patch (still haven't beat him yet though) and I have never seen him say Shadow Take You more than once at a time. However there have been times where people been in the circle, used the item (did the animation), and it just didn't seem to work. However this could probably be a timing or lag issue. It is still helpful to have more than one person with copies of the items, just as a backup. Also, the article could mention that gear with Wound/Fear protection is desirable and that Lore-master might want to use the Proof against all ills trait for removing wounds in combat. I know minstrels and captains can dispel fear as well -- this can be important if someone gets an Affliction while their potion is cooling down. MysterX 12:38, 6 February 2008 (PST)
Good points there:
  1. About the bug - personally I've defeated him at least 5 times now, without any issues other than players not doing their job on the call-outs or Afflictions. I encountered the "Shadow Take You" so-called bug once when I did it a long time ago, but at the latest by Book 11 is seems to have been fixed. I've done it several times recently and this never occurred, and if you say the same then we can assume that this is true. I'll remove the recommendation.
  2. I don't know about the validity of the "I hit it and it didn't work" issue. We could note that the item will not work if it is used too late - a split-second before he actually finishes casting - because of latency (lag). I have never encountered this issue though in all my attempts and successes. Players in my group always gets on the circle and activate the item in time. Unless I see some kind of video recording of the "bug" occurring, I just can't say it's credible.
  3. I'll add the class abilities and traits to the preparations list. --Fedaykin 13:06, 6 February 2008 (PST)

Difficulty

Looking back at this battle and comparing it to Mordirith, I think it's actually more difficult. There is room for failure (you can survive a signature ability or two), but it's still not easy for your average group to pull off. Mordirith on the other hand is actually not that hard aside from one or two of the waves. Go ahead and set it to Very Hard :) --Fedaykin 10:42, 10 April 2008 (PDT)
