Major Rewrite, Aug 2010

I'm starting a revision to put this in the same format as Create new location (link is on my user page). I expect it will take a while since my main only visits once every few days and I only spend a little while each day digging up information. Anyone who wants to change this main page in the meantime should let me know -- though I do expect to look at the history before I overwrite it. -- David 16:59, 24 July 2010 (UTC)

The major revision is finished. Smaller task still to be done:
  • The list of quests started with the old, separate list of quests; I merged in the quest lists of some of the NPCs I encountered but there are more NPCs to examine. Furthermore, the old list included book quests that started in Rivendell but not some that ended there; those need to be found and entered.
  • There are a fair number of red links for which pages need to be created.
  • The Barter section of the vendor list is a new idea as far as I know; others should comment on whether it's the right thing to do.

Wow that must've been a lot of effort, to collect all those NPCs. :) I think the lists look all very clear, and the barter sections seems good to me too. I was just wondering about what you think about the Lore section. What about moving that up till above Location, like many other location pages have? It feels more natural for me at that spot, because its more a thing to "read" than the NPC lists. Like the way it now is, you have to scroll through all the lists before finding it. --Ravanel 06:19, 10 August 2010 (EDT)
It was a lot of effort, but rewarding -- and a nice alternative to adventuring sometimes. With regard to Lore, it's in the place Create new location puts it, so we should change the boilerplate if we move this page's section. looking at the boilerplate history: Lore was originally first, but Rogue4ever moved it later in the March 4 2010 revision that established much of the current boilerplate; we should probably ask for her opinion (which I've done). p.s. Thanks for the NPC title links -- I figured there were "real" links somewhere but ran out of energy to go looking for them. David 17:34, 13 August 2010 (EDT)
Hmmm... I believe my original thought for moving Lore down to last thing on the list is this is a wiki about the game itself and most of the Lore sections talked about the history of it from either the books or movies or official LOTR site. I really don't have an opinion about it atm as I haven't spent time with Locations. I do think that Locations need work and they need to be uniform. Rogue 20:24, 13 August 2010 (EDT)
