I'd suggest converting most of the info from http://lorebook.lotro.com/wiki/Reputation_System, or at least linking to it...

A link for now wouldn't harm. Converting ... could be a fine line between that & out-right copying; as a rule I only enter data that I have gained directly from the game - although I may use other sites to confirm something I'm not sure on (eg I do use the lorebook to check which quest was a prerequisite when it wasn't clear). The note below these editing pages says "You are also promising us that you wrote this yourself, or copied it from a public domain or similar free resource. DO NOT SUBMIT COPYRIGHTED WORK WITHOUT PERMISSION!" I'm not sure quite what status the lorebook has. DancesInTrees 03:23, 8 September 2007 (PDT)
OK, I've edited in a framework for each faction page, and filled in as much as I know (though I did pinch the crafting professions info & a couple of other bits from somewhere, I forget where ;D ). We could probably do with some ;loc's on NPCs, apart from the other missing info. DancesInTrees 02:00, 9 September 2007 (PDT)

Rep Quests

I've been listing quests that give rep fairly generally "most quests in this area" etc as the complete lists will be quite lengthy - do we want actual quests lists as in The_Mathom_Society_Reputation#General_Quests?

I think what would be best is that all quests that give rep with a faction will end up categorised as such & this rep pages will just list the general areas & point to the category containing the specific quests.

DancesInTrees 01:29, 10 March 2008 (PDT)

  • I didn't see a list anywhere that showed "these quests give you the reputation point items" so I decided to list them. Personally I think that "these are found in most shire quests" is pointless and wastes everyone's time. It doesn't tell you anything useful. That is why I believe listing the quests, generally or otherwise is better than not. If we end up with subcategories in the category:Reputation quests that prove useful and point me and countless others in the right direction thats fine, but right now there's not and it was very frustrating for myself and travel companion who are 25th to go into the shire for the mathom house reputation build up to have to click on every gray ring we happened to see on a hobbit just to find out if they offered the mathom tokens. So, finding nothing here that helped me determine which quests had those I started writing them down as I came across them and added them to the one place I thought obvious for now. Fair enough. I've tended to run all my alts round the Shire fairly early (they all jumped to Acq. with bk 12) so I don't see it from the perspective of someone who is just after the rep quests. DancesInTrees 01:19, 11 March 2008 (PDT)

Oh Joy, convert to the new system

x10 stacks of rep no longer apply with the latest patch.

a graphical redesign is needed? tables need to be updated.

How about just removing Quantity Required and divide the Reputation Gained by the number removed? Is that safe or did they adjust any values?

I know they added new rep items as well, at least in Moria.

I'll start with the Rangers of Esteldín page and someone else can redo my work or continue forward.

SChalice (talk) 11:01, 19 December 2011 (EST)

In all the items I have seen, the reputation was divided by what used to be the number required to turn in, so I think it's a safe assumption that all reputation items follow the same formula, and the "Quantity Required" can be completely removed wherever it occurs. In addition, all the icons have changed, the item tooltips are different, the NPCs that used to barter the items have been removed, and all the reputation introduction quests are also gone. We're converting all the reputation items to use the Template:Reputation Item rather than the generic item template.
The same adjustments apply to all the crafting guild reputation items too, except that no NPCs have been removed - the guild members still accept the items as barter or for trading up in size.
There are a few of us who have started updating the items and reputation faction pages, but there's a lot to work through and your help is much appreciated. -- Elinnea (talk) 12:14, 19 December 2011 (EST)
Not all the intro quests are gone. Yesterday I collected 10 somethings for the Iron Garrison Miners/Guards (which?) in The Dolven-view. (Can't check right now as a reboot is in progress.) It might be Quest:Moria's Iron Garrison.
Please be sure to have the item you are editing in hand (or a screen shot thereof), rather than attempting to predict or guess the new values and tool tips. RingTailCat (talk) 13:07, 19 December 2011 (EST)
Huh, that's interesting. I had a character with the intro quest for Gift Mathoms from before the update, and the quest was removed when I logged in, and there's no NPC to offer it now. I guess we'll have to check them individually. -- Elinnea (talk) 13:32, 19 December 2011 (EST)

How to add the new Region

Ok, I've added a couple of pages for the rep factions in The Great River region - The Riders of Stangard and Heroes of Limlight Gorge ... ignore the page content at the moment, I'm just "throwing" stuff at it to see what sticks. :) But feel free to edit/comment, etc. I don't have ANY information on what "rewards" you get at the different rep levels.

What I don't know, however...Which Category to put them in. At first blush, it looks like they should be:

However, if I do that, then there is no "normal" Link to The Great River.

One assumes that The Great River page should link downwards to all pages relating to it, and that those pages should link upwards. That is, the primary link for all pages should point upwards to Category:The Great River

However to be consistent with the other "new" category naming conventions it appears they should be named:

See the top level category to see how things are presently laid out.

Notice that there is no Category:The Great River Reputation but

doesn't follow the same model as (I think) the others do, like

Deeds

or

Titles

So, is this just an area where Z has not yet been? Confused Wm Magill - Valamar - OTG/OTC (talk) 23:50, 13 March 2012 (EDT)

Yes ;) Zimoon (talk) 16:39, 14 March 2012 (EDT)
Joke aside, assuming the questgroup is correct everything seems OK. The starting-location is missing, but is perhaps not created yet. The reputation points goes with the name of the faction, and into the faction itself and into Reputation quests. The questgroup is a bastard but I accept it as a common denominator that at least lists most quests of a region alphabetically. The location adds to the geography, such as location -> area -> region, once it is added. Each category fill different purposes.
Remember that my highest level toon is 36, far from even peeping at these regions at a distance and black sunglasses. But I enjoy my journey with him (a hunter) and the 6 others at an even slower pace :-)
PS: Only if the faction really is named "The Great River Heroes of Limlight Gorge" you need to redo whatever to use the faction name. So, what is the name?

Guild Rep change with RoR

I haven't been able to confirm it in-game myself, but the Crafting Guild article indicates that a seventh positive rep tier has opened up (one tier above "Master of the Guild"; two tiers above Kindred/"Artisan of the Guild").

According to the article, "Grand Master of the Guild" requires an additional 60,000 rep (190,000 total).

I don't know whether the preference is to update the article for changes as they're discovered, or to wait until we have a clearer picture of the scope and nature of all the RoR changes with respect to reputation. The addition of another guild tier is probably not of urgent informational significance to this article (because, for the most part, those whom it affects probably already know about it and surely already understand how it works) So, if we're loathe to make small incremental revisions, I can understand waiting until we have details on all the new rep factions (there are some, aren't there?) and reputation meta-deeds (if any) in the expansion zone before revising the page. Otherwise, can someone confirm the change and add it to the table? Halgoreth (talk) 12:46, 22 October 2012 (EDT)

I can confirm that the new guild rep tier is called Grand Master of the Guild and it requires 60,000 more reputation. I'll go ahead and add it to the table, thanks for pointing it out.
I prefer to avoid dozens of minor edits all in a row, but there's nothing wrong with adding information as you discover it in the game. There are four new reputation factions in East Rohan, but I personally haven't yet levelled up enough to meet any of them. Crafting guilds, however, I am familiar with, so I can add in information there. Either I can come back with the other details later when I've found them, or someone else will take care of it. Different people have different interests, so ideally it will all be covered eventually, as long as our information all comes directly from the game. If we waited to collect all the information before updating the wiki, weeks and months would pass before anything happened here. ;) -- Elinnea (talk) 13:15, 22 October 2012 (EDT)

Strange discounts

Does anyone know WHERE the reference to: "Discounted repair costs (approx 20-25%)" for Ally and Kindred comes from?

I see no indication that such a discount exists. At least none of the in-game Passive "titles" indicate that it exists.

The only 20% discount which obviously exists is if you have a Kinhouse and a personal home in the same neighborhood.

Wm Magill - Valamar - OTG/OTC - talk 05:27, 18 January 2014 (UTC)
I don't know and find it strange that it's listed as a range as if it was random or not well known.
One way to find out is to die many times to make the bill higher and they see what different vendors ask for the repair.
