Master skill

There's a passive Master skill -- its name seems to conflict with the kinship title of Master. Banaticus 12:21, 6 January 2009 (PST)

 • Fixed thanks for catching that! Rogue 08:25, 7 January 2009 (PST)

Trophies / Trophy Items

There are currently two different categories, Trophies and Trophy Items, that appear to be duplicates. Shouldn't those be combined? --Gaerlin 16:20, 7 February 2009 (UTC)

Yah I saw that a while ago and forgot about it, somewhat on purpose... I'll take another looksy and see where the trophies should be and go from there... Rogue 20:14, 7 February 2009 (UTC)
OK lemme know if you need help --Gaerlin 15:38, 8 February 2009 (UTC)

Image uploads

I seem to be having increasing trouble with image uploads.

It can go to the uploaded page, but not cap the image. I have once had a virus scanner fail message.

--Ispbard 22:56, 16 March 2009 (UTC)

I am also having difficulty with this. I create all my .PNGs in Paint Shop Pro and I've noticed that sometimes it seems to create .PNGs that the wiki doesn't like, so I just open them back up in PSP, save them again, and re-upload them and then they're OK. --Gaerlin 02:33, 17 March 2009 (UTC)

Something to note, please make sure that the files are lowercase and not uppercase.. just a small pet peeve but we like things the same. Rogue 06:32, 17 March 2009 (UTC)
Don't the file names need to match the item names exactly? How else will the templates work? --Gaerlin 20:23, 25 March 2009 (UTC)

Wiki Bot

Is there anyone here currently editing that is familiar with how wiki bots work? Rogue 00:14, 19 March 2009 (UTC)

Yes, there is. Ask away on my talk page. Thadius856

Proposed changes to cook recipe indexes

I posted some proposed changes to the layout of the cook recipe indexes to improve readability at User:Gaerlin/Sandbox/Sample_Cook_Recipe_Table. Please review and provide comments on the discussion page. --Gaerlin 03:48, 26 March 2009 (UTC)

That looks cool. --Lotroadmin 16:05, 1 April 2009 (UTC)

New trait template

I've created a new template just for traits. Please take a look and provide comments at:

Here are some examples of traits that I modified for the new template:

Recipe Index Updates

Proposed changes to recipe index pages. We are asking for opinions about the following issues:

A link to the actual recipe. It is undecided whether or not to have links to the item / crit item only, a recipe link only, or if we want to have both a recipe link and the item/crit links. Currently there is no recipe link.
On the one hand it is a recipe index so a recipe link would make sense, while on the other hand the information on recipe pages is already given in the index themselves. Rogue 22:25, 18 April 2009 (UTC)
Ok, here's my PoV - an index is just a list - it should only show basic information about the object it indexes. In this case, a recipe index should basically show the recipe name, the result (normal / crit), maybe craft XP but I'm not even sure about that. It absolutely has to show the profession and tier, but thats already solved by grouping tiers into separate indexes. Why - because it would be easier to maintain - when new items are added in subsequent updates. The index should link to the recipe (it's a recipe index after all) and the recipe should point to the item (as it does). Orions 11:42, 19 April 2009 (UTC)
Images or no images. There is a debate whether or not to have images on the recipe pages. We could have them there or take them off and create a "gallery" page for weapons and armour.
Personally, I feel that the images add something to the indexes. Rogue 22:25, 18 April 2009 (UTC)
My opinion (and Rogue already knows it :P) is to get the images off the indexes. Item icons yes, ok. Item screenshots - no, for me they just blur the picture. Orions 11:42, 19 April 2009 (UTC)
Additional Information. There is also a debate whether or not to have information on the recipe indexes about the items stats, such as armour and bonuses or damage and bonuses. Do we take them off the indexes or keep them on? Also do we keep the level requirement or take that off as well? One reason this was brought up is for space constraints. It would allow for all crafting information to be inside one table.
I am undecided atm but would like to point out Metalsmith Apprentice Recipe Index. I believe that the table with information on the armour set specifically is very useful and I believe it looks nice with the image of the outfit itself. I would hate to see this leave the index. But The individual item stats are on the item pages themselves so this information is already covered. The set information is not. Rogue 22:25, 18 April 2009 (UTC)
I am all for getting item information out of recipe indexes. The reason is simple - order and clarity. Item info should be on the item pages, recipe info - on recipe pages. The argument Rogue raises about the armor sets is very valid - but item sets IMO deserve their separate pages as well. Item set is a different logical category than the item itself, so it should have its separate page. Yes I know we are adding more and more new pages, but IMO that is what a wiki is about - to have the information logically sorted into well structured pages, so we can (a) search for the information easily (b) link the information easlity and (c) maintain the information easily - here i mean changes, updates etc. Orions 11:28, 19 April 2009 (UTC)
This comment covers all three topics above. One thing that I think we need to consider is what exactly do we expect people to use the indexes for? In other words, who is their audience? I feel that there are basically two audiences for the index pages: the primary audience is crafters who want to be able to quickly find out information about everything that they can craft at a particular tier, especially for the purposes of comparing the amount of craft XP gained for the amount of mats and cost required for different items. A secondary audience is folks who aren't concerned with the crafting aspect but just want to compare the stats of different crafted items to see what suits them best in terms of equipment. Right now the indexes are kind of a hybrid with information useful to both of these audiences. However, I think we should instead create two different types of indexes: recipe indexes targeted to crafters and equipment indexes targeted to people looking for equipment. The crafting indexes would show icons, item name, mats required, and craft xp gain (but no stats or min level) and would link to the recipes for the items. The equipment indexes would show icons, item name, stats, min level (but no mats or craft xp gain) and would link to the normal/crit items. The recipe indexes should be organized by profession and tier like they are now, but the equipment indexes should be organized by item type (Light Armour, Medium Armour, Heavy Armour, One-Handed Weapon, Two-Handed Weapon, etc.) and they should be sorted by min level. Also, I don't think we should put screenshots of the items on the crafting indexes, but we could put screenshots on the equipment indexes. --Gaerlin 16:33, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
I basically agree with Gaerlin on all his points - the only difference I would make is to avoid putting mats on recipe indexes - but I take Gaerlin's point of being able to compare items for craft grind purposes. --Orions 19:06, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
What do you think of this: Bronze_Armour_Set? We could take out the statistic information off of the recipe indexes and just place them on their own page (if an armour set). It doesn't solve all issues but it might be a start for that type anyway.
The Bronze_Armour_Set is PRECISELY what I had in mind. A separate page for a separate entity, presenting all the information concerning that entity. That would go into for example which would be a subcat of Orions 05:41, 21 April 2009 (UTC)
Please take a look at the sample indexes I created: User:Gaerlin/Sandbox/CookApprenticeRecipeIndexSample is the sample recipe index for crafters, while User:Gaerlin/Sandbox/TrailFoodIndex is the sample item index for consumers. Note how the recipe index for crafters is focused on crafting information, including craft XP gained, cost of mats for each make, and cost per XP gained per make, which will help crafters to budget their tiering up as well as quickly determine what mats are needed for which items. The item index for consumers includes no crafting information and instead focuses on the effects/stats of the items so that consumers of the items can quickly find the items that will help them the most based on their level. --Gaerlin 16:08, 24 April 2009 (UTC)

Categories and whats in them

Ok, I've got a little puzzle. I have begun reworking deeds and their categories. Up till now, the deed categories contained articles about deeds in certain regions - call them deed guides. I have begun creating a separate page for every deed and at the moment we have both the single deeds and the deed guides belonging to the category. The best example would be Category:Virtue Quests. IMO we should get the "guides" out of the category. A link in the category description is ok - I've done that in regional deeds - but IMO the guides should lose their links. New table class

Could someone create a new table class that is just like altRows but has the smaller header font like stockTable uses? I don't like using altRows because I think the header font is way too big, but I do like the alternating row colors. --Gaerlin 13:23, 21 April 2009 (UTC)

We have a header called altRowsMed which is smaller than altRows. There is an altRowsMed2 which switches the alternate colors opposite of altRows and altRowsMed. Hope that helps :) Rogue 14:57, 21 April 2009 (UTC)
Could we create an "altRowsSmall" class that is just like altRowsMed but uses the same font size for headers as stockTable? --Gaerlin 15:16, 24 April 2009 (UTC)
Put support in for small headers. --Eleazaros 22:01, 11 May 2009 (UTC)
Ah yes AltRowsMed is much better now... awesome, thanks :) --Gaerlin 22:33, 11 May 2009 (UTC)
Thanks a bunch Eleazaros! Good to see you hanging around again! :) Rogue 05:18, 12 May 2009 (UTC)

New format for class trait pages

I'd like to propose that we use the format of Rune-keeper Traits as the standard format for all class trait pages. The main page breaks out the class traits by trait set and also shows the set bonuses and legendary traits. Each trait set also has it's own page (example: Benedictions of Peace). Each individual trait page uses Template:Infobox Trait, and I adapted Template:Settip to support the trait set bonuses on that template as well. --Gaerlin 15:26, 24 May 2009 (UTC)

Looks awesome to me, I say we go for the update! Rogue 05:36, 28 May 2009 (UTC)

New template for outfit colour options!

Mirar has designed a new template for posting outfit colour options. To use, type:

(with the appropriate title and basename, of course).

Your uploaded image files should be named <basename>_<colour> for this to work.

Check out the Bounder's Hauberk page for an idea of how the finished product looks like! The colours are for now sorted by the game's dressing room window order.

I would also like to have a front, side and back view of outfits on all races and genders (similar to this one) but I don't have a good template for that yet. Proposals on naming rules?
