Page revamp

Hey, so I'm not trying to mess up anyone's editing efforts, but this page was really messy & outdated so I've just gone in and smashed it into being cleaner.

I'm mimicking the formatting that most other Class pages are using post-Helm's Deep (see Burglar, Captain, Champion, Guardian, Hunter, Rune-keeper), where it just lists the baseline skills in level order and then the Trait Tree skills by tree.

I think this is most helpful for new players looking up info (as a new player myself I think so, at least), because it shows you tangibly what your character will be like as you level up rather than just showing a scattered selection of everything you would have at max level.

I think there's a case for grouping skills more intuitively than the level order (ie, all Pets in one section, all DPS skills in another, all Heals/Support in another, etc etc etc). But, I would leave that to someone else. Perhaps the best idea there is 2 different listings — skills in level order, and a different section / page with skills grouped by function.

However, I must candidly say the old format of grouping skills by their game-designed "category" just isn't very helpful at all. Debuffs, support skills, damage skills, etc. are scattered all over the place, sorted only by their vague RP / Lore groupings rather than their gameplay function. Really ends up quite disjointed and unhelpful for quick info.

I also cut the huge listing of each individual cosmetic alteration for the Pet skills because that was a giant wall of abilities which added ~zero useful info; there are enough links to Pets and the individual Pet Pages for people to get that, and I also specifically called out the Talismans in the new Pet section I added.

Lastly, a lot of info is definitely "off" — I'm new to the game so getting certain details quickly isn't easy. Such as the exact levels for certain abilities post-Helm's Deep, what "Improved" skills still exist, etc. Anyone who wants to go in and fix these details, please do!

Anyway, again I was just trying to quickly bring the Lore-master page up to the accuracy / cleanliness / standards of the other class pages, not mess anyone's work up. Feel free to edit further or correct any messes you feel I've made. =) Lovestar (talk) 03:09, 16 September 2014 (UTC)

Improved Pet Abilities

Ok, I just happened to notice in a discussion with a new player -- my level 56 LM for "Friend of the Amimals" skills has all "Improved" skills...

  • Improved Raven-lore
  • Improved Friend of Bears
  • Improved Lynx-speech
  • Improved Eagle-Friend
  • Improved Friend of Feline Hunters

I have no idea where the "Improved" came from. I don't see anything obvious in my Traits. No fancy Jewelry... no idea.

I just created a new Lore Master, now level 9, and he has just plain "Raven Lore."

I've checked recent release notes and don't see any reference to it (under specific Lore-master headings.) Google turns up nothing -- anywhere! So does anyone have an explanation. (And a comment that can be added to the Wiki?) Wm Magill - Valamar - OTG/OTC (talk) 02:17, 22 April 2012 (EDT)

Pretty sure it's the Hardy Companion trait that does it. Fingolwë (talk) 07:27, 22 April 2012 (EDT)
Think Fingolwë is right, I'll check this in-game and update the pages accordingly. Thanks for finding out and posting here! --Ravanel (talk) 07:29, 22 April 2012 (EDT)

Yes, I just confirmed it... Hardy Companion it is! If you have your skills page open to the pets, the description changes to improved as soon as you slot it!

So now the question is (see the Hardy Companion page) How does one earn the trait? There should be some explanation on that page as to where it comes from. I.e. a link to Lore-master_Traits instead of or in addition to the link to Lore-master

Skill power/morale cost

I will update the power and morale costs to level 85 as soon as my lore-master has reached level cap. This will also have to be done for the other class skill pages. --Ravanel (talk) 05:46, 23 October 2012 (EDT)

Why I added an Accuracy Check

I'm not one to keep up with a load of stats, I just know what works for me. So, I'm not the one to verify the information.

I've noticed that pet damage types do not match the types I show on my highest level LM at the moment. My pets do Belerand instead of Common. Power costs for Knowledge of Cures seems to be a level x 1.883 power cost for my 120 LM (120 x 1.883 = 226).

Also, inductions seem to be off as well. Almost as if some of them are rounded up.

I'll add more as I find it.
