Introduction

The Alliance is a co-operative kinship, on the Landroval server consisting of all the races of Middle-earth, with members living throughout the world who are looking to enhance their game play with a socially helpful experience. This kinship and leadership is shared by a governing council of Officers. Our adult membership is very diverse, with game founders who are always willing to share experience and knowledge with newer players.

We are an extremely laid-back kin that believes in real life always coming first, and many of our raids and social events are organic in their creation. Simply put: if you're looking for a heavy role-playing, power leveling, intense raiding or grinding kin, we are not for you.

The Alliance is a part of the Alliance Gaming Community (AGC), which includes Star Trek Online and The Elder Scrolls Online.

Lore

A billowing of thunder rumbles far to the east, like a Dwarven funeral song, heralding the awakening of an ominous evil. Menacing clouds flow from the Ash Mountains, blanketing all of Middle-earth in a veil of darkness. The Eye of Mordor flares alive, calling forth its sinister allies to bend to their master's iron will. The callous storm reaches out, like fingers of death, belching lightning from the sky, killing hope with each fatal touch. Weak souls run from the wickedness that has touched the land.

Yet some stand against this foul tide, with teeth bared, snarling oaths of victory that spit from their lips like war cries of vengeance. They strive forward with steel and lore, united to conquer and defeat the growing evil of Mordor. Together, we bring peace and justice to our beloved Middle-earth. Together, we are The Alliance.

History

"I began the kin as a Rohirrim kin in 2010... but as it started to seem evident that we were em-massing all sorts of toons I decided to make it a more generic name after about a year. I paid for the name change and it is now The Alliance." - Faral, The Alliance Founder

By Spring of 2014, The Alliance was in a slow decline. In March of 2015 Faral transferred leadership. After a brief attempt to rebuild the kinship, the new leadership decided to leave. By this point The Alliance was broken and only had a few active members on at any given time.

In June of 2015 Faral entrusted leadership of The Alliance to the current leader, Ralia. Under this new leadership the goals of the kinship were refined and major recruitment effort boosted kinship membership to over 100 within three months. As The Alliance grew, additional ranks were added to help maintain the kinship.

Today The Alliance is one of the largest active kinships on the Landroval server with approximately 600 active members from around the world.

Timeline

2010 - The kinship is founded under the name The Horselords of the Riddermark as a casual Rohirrim themed role-play kin.
2011 October 22 - The kinship is renamed to The Alliance.
2012 February 29 - The kinship membership reaches approximately 40 active players.
2015 March 19 – Kinship founder, Faral, transfers kinship leadership. Leadership transfers back to Faral shortly after.
2015 June 13 – Faral promotes Ralia to Leader of The Alliance with Faral as permanent successor.
2015 July 18 – The Alliance becomes a shared leadership kinship
2015 July 21 – The kinship membership reaches approximately 60 active players
2015 August 10 – Work begins on creating a fair and thorough Code of Conduct that would protect our members and govern The Alliance.
2015 August 17 – The Leadership Council of The Alliance is formed.
2015 August 23 - The Code of Conduct is completed and put into full effect.
2015 September 8 - The kinship Surië o Vanwa merges with The Alliance along with former members.
2015 October 6 – The kinship membership reaches approximately 200 active players.
2016 January 4 – The kinship membership reaches approximately 300 active players.
2016 January 20 – The Commanding Officer and Specialist Commanding Officer ranks are created.
2017 March 28 - The Alliance hosts a Landroval server-wide event, Exploring the Lord of the Rings - Episode 12: Tales of That Sort
2017 June 16 - The kinship membership reaches approximately 400 active members.
2017 June 22 - The Alliance is featured in The LOTRO Beacon: Issue #16.
2019 April 24 - The Alliance kinship house received a Best House in the Neighbourhood Trophy from Cordovan during the 12th Anniversary Livestream Event.
2019 May - Expands kinship to include Star Trek Online under the Alliance Gaming Community aka AGC.
2021 October 22 - The Alliance 10 Year Anniversary.
2021 November 1 - The kinship membership reaches approximately 600 active members.
2022 - Alliance Gaming Community includes The Elder Scrolls Online.
2022 July 20 - Moves to new community site https://agc.gamerlaunch.com/.
2022 October 17 - Hanbury joins the Leadership Council and becomes the in-game Leader of the LotRO branch of the Alliance Gaming Community.
