Bestowal dialogue

'I will tell you my tale of woe, <name>, but I promise that you will wish to undo all of the kindness that you have done for me when you hear of my cowardice.

'Let me tell you first that I am no soldier. I have never been a brave man. My duties in my home called me to take the city-watch for a night, and I did that duty at least, but I am ashamed to speak of what came after....'

Background

Léofmar is ashamed of his behaviour, wracked by guilt. Could his crimes have been so great that he deserves the curse he believes is coming to claim him?

Objective 1

  • Listen to Léofmar's tale

Léofmar is in Fangorn.

You should speak with Léofmar and hear his tale.

Léofmar: 'I will tell you all, <name>. You will regret ever helping me; I know it.'
Complete the Instance: The Pain of Regret quest.

Objective 2

  • Reassure Léofmar that you do not think his crimes so terrible

Léofmar is in Fangorn.

You should speak with Léofmar.

Léofmar: 'I rode my horse to the edge of the wood, but I would not let him follow me inside. I came here to hide...and to die. My poor steed should not meet the fate of a coward.'

Objective 3

  • Whistle for Léofmar's horse

You should whistle for Léofmar's horse.

You must be standing near Léofmar in order to do this.

You should whistle for the horse you met earlier, now that you have found his lost master
You whistle. Over here!
The horse you met appears, clearly relieved to be reunited with his master

Objective 4

  • Talk to Léofmar again

Léofmar is in Fangorn.

You should talk to Léofmar once more.

Léofmar's Horse: Léofmar's horse has responded at once to your summons, ready and willing to bear his master to safety.
Leofmar: 'My steed! I cannot believe it, <name>. I cannot believe that you found him. I had not even hope that he was near, the foolish beast.'
You tell Léofmar of the small boating camp on the edge of the Fangorn, where he will likely be welcomed with his bow and arrows.
'I will go there now, <name>; thank you. I am blessed, not cursed, to have so many good folk and creatures looking after me. I will not be afraid anymore.'
Léofmar will be all right. It would be wise to continue your search for sleeping Ents

Objective 4

You should search for other sleeping Ents in the forest, heading north-east from Léofmar's location.

Wisewood: Another Ent sleeps here, surrounded by smoke, fires, and grief. What harries this poor creature's home?
