Bestowal dialogue

'I see that you have some skill at fighting child-brigands. How would you like to try your hand at the real thing, eh, stranger? Why play at fighting when there are real enemies to be cowed?

'Brigands have raided a farm to the west of here, and the poor farmer has lost everything. If you want to be useful as your reputation bids, you should go and deal with the team of bandits who did this.'

Background

Brigands have returned to the Wold after having been recently driven across the Great River.

Objective 1

  • Question the farmer about the attack

The farmer whose lands were looted can be found west of Langhold, not far from the north gate.

You should speak with the farmer and hear out the story of what befell him.

Dala: 'If you are in need of employ, there are some real brigands in need of banishment. Soldiers grown do not waste time with children's games that mimic the deeds of Men.'
Tunbert: 'Ah! Someone to help me. I am glad they city watch sent a strong-looking <class> to aid me.
'The brigands came just before dawn and ransacked my farm, and beat me.
'There were only four, maybe five of them that did the dirty work. Brigands would not dare return to the northern Wold in any great numbers, so long as Utred is Thane. I did not make out which way they ran...perhaps south-west?'
The farmer indicated that the small band of attackers may have gone south-west

Objective 2

  • Find the small band of brigands who robbed the farmer

The farmer indicated that the brigands may have wandered south-west from his farm after robbing him.

You should find the small band of brigands who robbed the farmer at dawn.

This outpost is much more worrisome than a mere band of robbers....

Objective 3

The brigands of Eastmund's Lair in the northern Wold are of a hostile nature, and pose a threat to the upstanding folk of Langhold.

You should defeat many brigands in an effort to drive them out.

Objective 4

  • Tell Dala of the brigand encampment that has emerged to the south-west

Dala can be found at the north gate of Langhold.

You should return to Dala.

Dala: 'A huge encampment of brigands, you say? This is no ordinary night raid, then....
'Thank you for taking such a great risk in venturing into the fray, <name>. I am sorry I chided you earlier and made light your courage. I think we must tell Thane Utred of this threat at once.'
