Walkthrough & Notes

This quest is available to players who have purchased the Riders of Rohan legendary expansion. You play as a level 75 War-steed which has special skills. You have 30 minutes to complete this session. You are ported to just east of the Last Bridge in the Trollshaws. [33.4S, 22.7W] Run to Minas Agor. [36.8S, 19.2W] Inspect The dead Nazgul horse. [36.6S, 18.4W] Destroy one each of the several scraps of "black armour" and "black cloth" in the area. Inspect the Black Horse Corpse again. You may cautiously avoid combat, or run away, or maybe you prefer to fight the Cargûl Searchers. They respawn quickly but are not hard. When they aggro, they may also aggro the nearby Curr-olog Scourges. Travel to the Ford of Bruinen which ends the session. [33.5S, 11.4W] When the session ends, (successfully or not) you are returned to the Hengstacer Farm, at the stable of the "Combe horse". There is nothing further to do to complete the Quest/Session/Deed. If defeated or the time expires you will be returned to the Hengstacer Farm. After extensive testing, these experimental efforts were determined to not be practical for general use and therefore were never made available in Mounted Combat in the final release of Riders of Rohan, but continue to be available in the Session Plays. Quest Text

Session A unique horse descended from an unknown line of horses. The Descendant lvl 75 Background Your nostrils flare at a scent of evil on the air. You feel compelled to find the source, excited to face whatever it is you discover... Objective 1 A scent of evil draws you deep into the Trollshaws You are drawn to a source of evil detected in the Trollshaws by your keen senses. Black Horse Corpse: You found the source of evil that drew you here. This was once a horse bred to server the forces of Sauron. There are many horses in the services of the Enemy, but this creature was the steed of a Nazgûl, one of the Nine. The scent of evil here fuels a fire you have never felt before, and you know this horse is an arch-enemy. Its death is bittersweet; you would prefer to have done battle with it yourself. The enemy left fragments of armour and strips of cloak behind. Destroying the trophies of evil will satisfy your anger at the existence of such a creature. Search the area and destroy the trophies of this fallen enemy. You found the source of evil! Objective 2 Destroy a scrap of black armour Destroy a scrap of black cloth Trophies of the evil steed can be found in the area where it met its death. Destroyed a scrap of black armour Destroyed a scrap of black cloth Objective 3 Examine the fallen black steed once more The trophies left behind by the fallen black steed and its rider have been destroyed. With your rage satisfied, curiosity has crept in. What could have killed this steed and where was its rider going. Black Horse Corpse: Destroying the trophies left behind by the enemy quenched your rage, for now. A powerful force was involved in driving this creature away, and it was injured badly to meet its doom at this spot. You could not sense it before because the stench of evil filled your nostrils. Upon returning to the corpse, you feel the other energy, somehow different. It lingers as a receding wave would leave small pools of water upon the sand. What could have done this to such a powerful creature. You must find the source of this energy. Objective 4 Find the source of that which drove the black steed away. A powerful force left a mysterious energy about the black steed's corpse, like a receeding wave would leave small pools of water to linger in the sand. The black steed did not make it far after suffering an injury so great. The source of such power must exist somewhere in the Trollshaws. You have found the Ford of Bruinen, the very source of whatever power sent the horses of the Nine to their doom. Session complete.
