Walkthrough & Notes

The first point is just before the arched opening in the wall [12.6S, 44.7W] The second point is by the iron crown shrine near the smoking debris of battle [13.7S, 45.5W] The third point is near the road approaching another archway [14.7S, 44.8W] The fourth point is near a humongous boulder in Sâd Gúlnir [14.4S, 46.2W] This quest requires finding each patrol point, in any order. Once you arrive at the correct place the quest will update. Patrolling the area is not necessary. Unless an enemy is standing directly on the patrol point, engaging them in combat is not mandatory, as the quest will safely update.

Bestowal dialogue 'Are you willing to patrol southern Gathbúrz, <name>? I know it looks pretty barren out here, but that is the main approach to the gate of Dol Guldur, and if a significant enemy force should slip by us, there we may pay dearly for it. 'We must remain alert for any movement by the enemy. Return to me with your report when you have completed your patrol.' Background Handelen has informed you of Orc-patrols which wander throughout the southern reaches of Gathbúrz. Objective 1 Patrol the first point in southern Gathbúrz Patrol the second point in southern Gathbúrz Patrol the third point in southern Gathbúrz Patrol the fourth point in southern Gathbúrz The first point is east of Thangúlhad. The second point is directly to the south-west of Thangúlhad. The third point is further south-west, near the gate of Dol Guldur. The fourth point is directly south of Thangúlhad. You should scout the waypoints of the patrol that Handelen has asked you to undertake and defeat any enemies that you might find there. Objective 2 Talk to Handelen at Thangúlhad Handelen is at Thangúlhad in Gathbúrz. You should return to Handelen with the report of your patrol. Handelen: 'There is still not much out there, I trust? So long as that road remains under our watch, the forces of Dol Guldur cannot mount an assault against us at Emyn Lûm, where the centre of our strength resides.'
