Lore

Naruhel, also known as the Lady of the Fountain,[1] was once the keeper of lush lakelands where the swamps of Agamaur now lie. [2] When Angmar and Rhudaur went to war against Arthedain, Naruhel's spring was deliberately corrupted, a condition exacerbated by the bloody fighting. [3] Some Men of Arthedain, among them Emelin, Dannasen, and Neven, were charged by Iarwain Ben-Adar - Tom Bombadil - to protect Naruhel or, failing that, to destroy her, but they failed and so were cursed to linger as shades in the Lone-lands. Naruhel, maddened and enraged, brought more ruin to Agamaur, until there was nothing left to kill and she slumbered. She was only recently reawakened by Ivar the Blood-hand, a Gaunt-lord.[4]
