Quest page content

This has cropped up time & again since we started & has never been resolved. Copying the early entries, I have generally entered all the text from the finished Quest, adding a brief note where additional information seems helpful, and Stubbing where other people have entered Quest text from the incomplete Quest. Others have added the actually dialogue (monologue? I never say anything :p ) which tbh I don't have the patience to do.

I think it would be better to have a structure something like

  1. Quest header
  2. Brief walkthrough (hidden as spoiler text?)
  3. Quest chain (/tree/net) if appropriate, or pre-requisites if not really part of the same chain (eg the Agamaur/GA quests that require bk2ch8)
  4. Actuall in-game text, both quest & dialogue

Quest header

  • Currently in use on most quests Template:Infobox Quest Banner
  • Created by Eleazaros & used on a few User_talk:Eleazaros#Quests
  • There's an MP one somewhere too :p

The original is OK, but I'd say Ele's is much better. However it needs to allow for Crafting specific quests, multiple previous & next quests (or removed & displayed separately), and the level at which it can be accepted as well as the actual level.

I published an MP Quests box that serves the purpose I was looking for Template:Infobox MP Quest with respect to Monster Play quests. Most monster play quests are repeatable.

Whatever template you'll want us to use, please consider adding the "difficulty" of the quest, as shown in the Journal. Please remember that there is now a "small fellowhsip" difficulty, with it's own icon. --Ahrien 08:20, 17 March 2008 (UDT)
There has been a Small Fellowship dificulty since beta. I agree difficulty should be included, currently I force it with [[Category:Small Fellowship Quests]] at the top of the page. DancesInTrees 04:13, 17 March 2008 (PDT)

Region links in infobox

It would be useful if the start and end region items were imbedded in [[ ]] by the template. I have run across capitalization errors which break the map ref stuff and having the red link in front of one when previewing the page would help fix that.

A part of me would like to see the quest giver and ender NPC names automatically made into links, but that would probably break a whole bunch at this point.--SwordMage 07:35, 3 August 2008 (PDT)

Unfortunately making the regions into links would break the map ref template. However it only takes a couple of seconds to hover over the map ref & check it is valid.
Quest giver names were deliberately not made links to allow for multiple quest givers. (I had various problems with the old template where clever ideas like this had been included, and promptly broke when Turbine did things slightly differently than had been allowed for.) :DancesInTrees 06:38, 4 August 2008 (PDT)

The regions wouldn't be broken if the template automatically made them into links since they must be a single, known region. I agree that there are multitudinous reasons for not auto-linking the quest givers. --SwordMage 05:52, 5 August 2008 (PDT)
