I am trying to replace the old 2009 version of this image (on the while background) with a newer image (the one with the colour and green beak), but the current version is always the original one. I have tried to revert to the new one, and I have tried uploading in two ways (from here and as a new inage), but without success. What am I doing wrong and how is this fixed?Noddi (talk) 11:27, 8 November 2016 (UTC)

Basically you are not waiting long enough. I don't know the exact reason or timings, but Images do NOT update immediately -- especailly on the File page.

When you go to the page where the file is being used, you can sometimes use the "purge" pulldown at the top right, to get it to display.

Other times, you need to do a "null-edit" -- put the page (or section with the file statment) into Edit mode, and then simply save it.

Either technique will usually cause the MediaWiki engine to update that particular page - but not always.

If that is the situation, wait until after the overnight Media Wiki housekeeping jobs run, and see what it looks like.
