Agamaur is an area within the Lone-lands, in the north-eastern region.
This square-formed area has just two entrances, Barad Dhorn from the southern Haragmar, and the Outer Gates of Garth Agarwen to the furthest north-east, though the latter is inaccessible from anywhere but Agamaur as well. Agamaur is pseudo-Sindarin for "Bloody Gloom" and indeed it will be remembered for its blood-red swamps full of wights, fell maples and oaks, as well as the fell-spirits that haunt it.
Whilst the red swamp has few named landmarks, it has many notable unmarked locations throughout. In the northwest are the most wild parts of Agamaur, the true marshland of the area; furthest northwest being the glade of the corrupted huorn, Gloomleaf. South of this are damp, ruins of the dead, under the command of Reykur and his fellow Gaunt Men. Given that the west holds the only entrance into the fortress ruins of Garth Agarwen, it is unsurprising that the Créoth tribe of Hill-men have encampments all over. The only exception being the altar of the Red-maid in the southeastern corner, guarded fiercely by the water risen up into a foul form.
The east-most section is meant for fellowships around roughly level 30, but the rest is suitable for the lone adventurer. Visitors usually come this way guided by Radagast the Brown, who often visits Barad Dhorn where a camp has been set up by few brave member of the Eglain. Eventually many visitors continue on to the Garth Agarwen instances before the epic quests lead them away. Outside Garth Agarwen is a small camp with a Camp Site Fire, Mustering Horn, Travelling Vendor, and an faction barterer for the Eglain.

Lore
- "North of the Great East Road, as it leads from the barrens of the Lone-lands to the Last Bridge, north also of the ruins of Ost Guruth, home of the scavenging Eglain, lies a vast marsh known as the Red Swamp. The swamp had not always been this way. Once, it had been a small lake beside a green meadow, but tales tell that a great bloody battle between the Hillmen of Rhudaur and the armies of Arthedain and Cardolan took place upon that site. The blood of the fallen tainted the water of the lake, corrupting it and the lands around it.
- "Little did the Men of Arthedain realize that within the lake, which now lies in the northern reaches of the Red Swamp, slept a powerful creature of nature. This once-peaceful being fell beneath the corruption of the swamp and awakened as something hideously destructive, slaying with abandon to feed her bloodlust. The Eglain of Ost Guruth say that the Dead have arisen within the bounds of Agamaur, the northern reaches of the swamp, and that evil men now dwell within the ruins of Garth Agarwen, worshipping the power which dwells there. It is also said that the shades of the Men of Arthedain can be found somewhere within the swamp, cursed by a great Power for failing to reclaim the swamp from the corruption which taints the land." — Lorebook
